Elliot Savage diary, 1857.

Savage, a machinist and tin tool maker, kept a record of the weather, his attendance at the factory or church, notes about visiting, deaths in the community, and some interesting details now and again. January 3, 1957, he noted that Edgar's measles have come out. On March 17, 1857, he mentioned having a patent granted and attended court as a witness on Tuesday, September 15. In the 1850 census, Elliot was listed as making tin tools in Berlin, Connecticut; by 1860 he was a machinist in Meriden, Connecticut.
